Issue Summary
Cerebus panics after the reaction the coin had last issue. After banging his head on the ceiling from backing up the big pile of bags filled with gold, he stumbles down them. He backs up the stairs, his eyes still wide open in shock and backs into Boobah who can't see where he is going as he is carrying a big pile of laundry. Mrs Henrot-Gutch starts yelling at Boobah, who starts repeating "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry". Mrs Henrot-Gutch trips on some laundry and lands on Boobah at the bottom of the stairs. Cerebus extracts himself from the pile, turns and runs up the stairs.
Cerebus starts to tell Red Sophia what happened, but notices she is packing. He asks her what she is doing and she says that her and her mother are leaving. Cerebus starts to argue with Red Sophia, telling her she can't leave as she is "Mrs. Most Holy" and that "the great Cerebus needs" her. Red Sophia claims that Cerebus only needs her for sex, and that is the only time she sees him. Cerebus threatens to keep her there by force, but as he is calling for Bear, Red Sophia and her mother leave.
Bear shows up too late, and asks Cerebus what he wanted. Cerebus tells him to forget it and heads down the stairs, past Boobah who is still under the laundry. Cerebus opens a wooden crate and takes out a bottle. As he is drinking from the bottle, a light appears. Cerebus says "Wonderful. The big round glowing white strange thing." He tells the light that he just wanted to drink a case of Borealan whiskey, and yells at the light to piss off.
The light tells Cerebus that he didn't even love her, referring to Red Sophia. Cerebus thinks to himself "It talks. Of course. Why should Cerebus be surprised?" The light continues saying that Cerebus didn't even like Red Sophia and the one he wants is dancing in the lower city.
Cerebus drinks the whiskey, picturing Jaka dancing in his head. He throws the bottle and yells for Bear. Cerebus tells Bear that he wants Bear to find a dancer in the lower city named Jaka. Cerebus walks around the grounds waiting for Bear to return. When Bear arrives, Cerebus is sitting on the roof of the hotel. Bear mentions that Jaka was in the first tavern he checked. Bear also asks if Cerebus just wanted her. Cerebus asks says yes, and Bear responds that is what he told her, when she wanted to bring her husband.

Artist Notes
Dave's Notebooks from Cerebus Biweekly for issue 73
"Fascination & Fruitation" The title Comes from Billy Idol's song "White Wedding" wherein he pronouces it "Fascin-ashe" and the Police song "Wrapped Around Your Finger" where Sting pronounces it "Fru-ish". I figured it was some kind of dyed blonde code or something.
Annotations
- The back cover shows the front cover, but without the logo, issue #, etc.
- p. 15: When Cerebus pictures Jaka dancing, he thinks of how she looked in issue 6.
