Issue Summary

Unlike the two previous Mind Game issues Cerebus is conscious in this one. Cerebus has a conversation, apparently with himself, mostly debating on how much whiskey to drink. By the end he's complaining of a headache, stomachache, and aching eyes. When someone says he's been nominated eastern Pontiff he thinks, "And on top of everything else, Cerebus is hearing things."

You may have noticed a discrepancy in the numbering of the Mind Games. "Game III" is hidden in this issue as well.

Notebook section of Cerebus Biweekly reprint of issue 63

"So then I did this big picture of Cerebus in papal robes with a cross and an ankh and I cut it up into twenty one page sections which took ten days. This was Mind Game III. Then I realized "Yoiks! If I put dialogue on it you won't be able to see the picture clearly." Half the month gone and the clock is ticking."

"Finally figure out the idea of multiple images with the picture puzzles pieces and inserts surrounded by thought balloons. My favourite issue of all time even though (or probably because) most people hate it. The puzzle is Mind Game III. The story is Mind Game IV.
