Issue Summary

While be driven to the Regency Hotel in a carriage, Astoria is kidnapped from the Cirinists. The kidnappers topple the carriage and in the ensuing accident, Astoria breaks her left arm.

Swoon reveals Snuff and "herself" are members of the "clueless." Cerebus and the Elf meet up and have a talk and realize that Cerebus is the Elf's father and talk about how she isn't the real Regency Elf. And then Cerebus wakes up from his dream.

Annotations

• In a dream Cerebus is having, the Regency Elf says: "I'm your DAUGHTER! I'm your DREAM DAUGHTER! I look like the girl you lived next door to when you were growing up and I look like Jaka and I look like Katrina and I look like Doris and . . ."
• 6: Astoria's arm is broken. (Alexx)
• 8: Historically, the Upper City has dominated the Lower.(Alexx)
• Swoon seems to be saying that a violent take-over is no longer necessary, and that his role (that of dreams) is now the significant one. (Alexx)
• 9: "Ah don't *have* any family!" In the past, Elrod has talked about various relatives, but they may be dead, or he might have been lying (then or now). (Alexx)
• "The Clueless" A parody of Sandman's family group, "The Endless". (Alexx)

• 16-17: The fact that Cerebus is unwilling to make love to the Elf suggests strongly that he subconsciously agrees that she is his daughter, and is restrained by the taboo against incest. (Alexx)
• 20: "...and a small bucket of scotch." Cerebus has probably just realized that the destruction of the Regency in real life means that the rest of his "dream" with the Elf was also real. (Alexx)
